The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards recognize students in middle and high school grades who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. Student volunteers must submit applications by November 3. Applications can be found online at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit. State honorees will receive an unrestricted award of $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip with a parent to Washington D.C. in May 2015. Ten students will be selected as National Honorees, and they will receive $5,000 awards.
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is the largest scholarship foundation in the country. Scholarship recipients may receive up to $40,000 per year for up to four years; pursue any area of study; take advantage of individual college advising; and have the opportunity to network with other high-achievers within the JKCF Scholar community. To be considered, applicants must plan to graduate in the spring of 2015 with intentions of attending a 4-year college. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 with test scores in the top 15% (SAT - 1200 or ACT - 26) and demonstrate financial need. The application deadline is November 3. This travel grant provides funds for students in grades 10-12 or a recent graduate toward a four to six week cultural exchange to Finland, Japan, Italy, Peru or Australia during the summer of 2015. Three travel grants of $1500 will be awarded and perhaps more if funds are available. The contest entry deadline is November 15, 2014. The rules explain everything in further detail. The High School Business Plan competition (HSBPC) is open to both juniors and seniors. Applicants must write a three page maximum executive summary of their business concept. The executive summary must be submitted by November 14, 2014. The open competition will be narrowed to ten finalists who will then compete for a $10,000 scholarship during the final competition held at WVU on March 21, 2015. For more information click here.

This scholarship sweepstakes opens on September 15th. Two winners will be randomly chosen every two weeks from October 31st to May 15th. Seniors may enter once every two weeks for a $500 scholarship.
